Magic Fire Music : Can you tell us about the upcoming record?
Ross the Boss : Since Hailstorm has been release on Oct. 29th I will tell you that it is a kick ass piece of Rock and Roll and Heavt Metal !. Its is our 2nd. CD the first one is called New Metal Leader .
Magic Fire Music : Can you introduce the members of the band ?
Ross the Boss : Our band is Matze Mayer (The German Hammer) on drums, Carsten Kettering on 4 and 8 string Bass, Patrick Fuchs Lead Vocals and Guitar and myself Ross The Boss Guitar and Keyboards .
Magic Fire Music : What is this album about?
Ross the Boss : Hailstorm is about a few things The constant search for the truth . or the Shining Path, The quest for your Kingdom ! The Empire ! Its about our brotherhood as a band !
Magic Fire Music : How was the recording of this album?
Ross the Boss : When we put out our first CD New Metal Leader we were only together for about a year, as it is a very good collection of songs .Hailstorm is a quantum leap forward in songwriting and performance . The band shows a more mature side and especially Patricks vocal attack has grown . I think my solos are more structured and at the same time complex .
We did the basic tracks in one studio in Germany then I did my guitars and keyboards in New York and Patrick did his vocal tracks at his studio ! Then all the completed tracks were sent to Achim Koehler our mixer in Hamburg !
Magic Fire Music : How does your songwriting process work ? Is it different from the last process work ?
Ross the Boss : Our songwriting well? we got together in January and we all had songs complete and we had some loose ideas , within one week we had 14 songs basically put together ! In Ross The Boss all of us write the music !
Magic Fire Music : Concerning the new album, is there a song on this album that you like the most to playing live?
Ross the Boss : A favorite song to be played live ? To be honest we have only played the instrumental "Great Gods Glorious " a bunch of times and it really works. Patrick and I do the twin guitars and its really exciting !
Magic Fire Music : You're a great guitarist, what are your idols? And why ?
Ross the Boss : Well thank you for saying that ! I would say some of my idols are B.B, Freddie and Albert King , Chuck Berry, Clapton, Beck, Page, Hendrix, Townshend hmmm oh Tony Iommi ! why isn't that obvious ? they wrote the book !
Magic Fire Music : A little word about Dio please. Did you know him personally? Ronnie Dio is the man that introduced you to Joey DeMaio isn't it ?
Ross the Boss : Ronnie was one of the nicest persons you would ever want to meet , sincere and a brilliant singer ! When I was in Shakin Street and opening for Sabbath in England Ronnie introduced me to Joey DeMaio who was on the crew ! Then we decided to form Manowar !
Magic Fire Music : I imagine you'll get a lot of questions about Manowar, and I don't want to make this a Manowar interview. So, just one question. Manowar will enter the studio to record again Battle Hymns. Do you have a comment?
Ross the Boss : Manowar ? Battle Hymns 2011 ?? Absolutely no comment .
Magic Fire Music : A new album by Shakin 'Street is it possible?
Ross the Boss : A new Shakin Street CD ? sure its possible ! but now I will work with Fabbiene her new solo project !
Magic Fire Music : Will Ross the Boss come to France this time for a concert?
Ross the Boss : We really hope to come to France in 2011 for some shows of course !
